Since 1987, the charismatic Italian has been thrilling crowds at the Royal Meeting, but 2023 will be the last time he rides at this most famous of racing events. Jason Weaver, a close friend of Dettori, visited his house to reflect with him on his affinity with those historic five days in June. The pair address his first ride 35 years ago, through his dominance in the late 90s and the plane crash which saw him miss the meeting in 2000, and onto his recent revival in fortunes – reliving some epic battles on the track along the way.
